I have two hd's on one ide channel. Will their be any complications or loss of data if I switch the slave hard drive with my friends hd then after doing what I need to do I switch back to my original slave?

if your employing NTFS there will be permission issues
youll need to disable simple file sharing and take ownership of files and folders

youll also need to be aware of the changes you make dont effect the boot order (place the drive you want to boot from on the primary IDE channel as the master as that is the first drive scanned by the BIOS, and would be HDD0 in the boot order)
