switching from ati to nvidia...problems ?

a little off topic but has anyone heard of problems arising when switching from an ati card to a 6800 while not reinstalling windows or reformatting, cause a friend of mine is getting artifacting in games and 3dmark03 after switching from his 9800 pro to a 6800
