switched motheboards and now processor won't function properly

Hey, i made the switch from a random leadtek motherboard to the ASUS A78NX Deluxe. I have a amd 2700 xp + processor. In the leadtek i could bring it up to 2.2 ghz which is what its suppose to be with no problems. When i try with the ASUS it will boot then after about 30 seconds a blue screen will appear saying its shutting down to prevent further damage because the processor is clocked to high. (if i bring the processor down a notch, everything is fine). I'm trying to run at its set speed (not overclocking), and the mobo won't let me. It worked fine with the leadtek.

any suggestions?

does it have an FSB ratio setting maybe in the bios not set correctly or did you change the RAM at all?

my buddy borrowed a stick of 512 DDR that was in there, i have 512 DDR left

is the hsf mounted right??? it could be backwards....

i just formatted, and installed the OS with just one stick of 512 RAM.

so you formatted after you wrote your message or before? I had same problems before and it just needed a format.

after, but i formated, put processor to reg speed. it messed up. posted here.

Do you have the cpu thermal protection turned on in the bios?
Maybe it's set too low or maybe it's set correctly and you need to remount your heatsink.
