Switch Spec's Revealed

It's not an odd corner to cut. Increasing the resolution requires much more horsepower.

This "console" is very much lacking graphical power. And that is part of the reason it is marketed as a handheld also.

There is no wii bowling to save this machine Nintendo....

Yeah, even early rumors put it at 720p for the screen. 236 ppi isn't that bad, especially at normal viewing distances. 720p was the best option for the price. Higher resolution would mean it would need a bigger battery, it would need to be stronger, and in the long run it would cost significantly more. It's already a hard sell at $300 USD (and significantly more in other countries) at $400-$500 it would be far far too expensive.
 
hell even the shield tablet which is a generation behind as far as CPU/GPU go are at 1080.
