Is anyone out there using this heatsink? I've yet to see a thread from someone actually using it and report on it. I've got one on the way with an 80mm quiet fan. I want good cooling with low noise.
 
yeah, i'm using it with the system in my sig (with tornado and nexus fan controller)

it works pretty well, even at low rpm...but it's a beast.

it should work out decent enough for you.
 
It's not the best heatsink in the world, but it gets the job done. You could get yourself an SP-94/SP-97 and have better performance for about the same money, though.
 
Just to look at the 2 side by side, it seems to me the SP-97 would be noisier if you put the same kind of fan on each one. I got the Swiftech (still waiting for it) based on that thought because silence is important to me, but I must admit I've yet to try either one.
 
Fan for fan, SP-97 would still outperform the Swiftech. And I don't see why the exact same fan would decide to be noisier if strapped to a different heatsink. As for me silence is unimportant. I don't hear that well anyway, and I'm used to it.. there is much more noise coming from the TV than my case fans, either way.
 
I'm thinking about the noise caused by the airflow around the helicoid pins as opposed to thru all the thin copper fins on the SP-97. Not the actual fan itself. I may be over thinking this thing here but I've got 3 computer in my computer room and they are all very loud so I'm working on silencing them. I want load temps in the 40's and silence or near silence.
 
I use it on my 2.4C OC'd to 280fsb, works great, fairly quiet compared to previous SLK900 I had
 
I may end up getting an SP-97 anyway, just to have one for my own comparison. I like Thermalrights stuff. I dang near got a heatsink collection going anyway.

This is the cooler I put in my lowest end machine. I have no way of knowing what the temps are running on it. It's quiet as advertised though.

The Swiftech finally arrived. It is a beast indeed. Waiting for the new Chenming 601 case to arrive before I install it. Can't wait to see how it does.
 
Finally got the MCX462-V in service. As I sit here just cruising the net a little my cpu temp is 48.6c, case temp 27.8c. So far for load temp I've seen 54c. It's a several degree improvement over the AX-7 I just retired but I was hoping for better. I wanted to see load temps in the 40's as reported by others. These temps are from the Enermax 5.25" front bay temperature monitor I just got and installed. Of course, the fan on the heatsink is a SilenX 14db, 28cfm, 2200rpm fan so I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed.
