Seen the quality of these Swiftech heatsinks and the lapping in reviews. It looks really appealing. Anyone have any opinions on the MCX462-V? Any problems?

I would be going for it over an SLK900A. Does it do a better job?

in my opinion, it's one of the 2 best heatsinks on the market, the other being the SP-97, not really sure which is best though. i've had wonderful luck with it ocing my xp 2800, just be sure to get a good fan, maybe a 92mm Tornado, even though it's a bit loud, you can always get a fan controller, i had to.

While I don't have the Swiftech you reference, I've read several reviews on it. I've also owned several Swiftech air set ups in as many years. I've found Swiftech's engineering and product quality to be second to none. Go for the Swiftech if for no other tie breaking reason than it's made right here in the U.S.A.

Edit: Ooooooooops, sorry about that. I didn't notice you are a Canadian brother until after I posted my reply. Get the Swiftech anyways ;)

I had one running with a Panaflo H1A (58.6cfm) and it was awesome. I can't remember the exact temps, but my 2600@2.45ghz never went over 50C. It is easy to install, but kinda hard to remove. Overall, a great HS.

Some ppl are telling me that the SLK900 is better, mite be fanboy bias, who knows...

Gonna look for some heatsink shootout with them, but it sounds like the MCX462-V would be better.

Yeah so the SLK900A does do better it looks like.

edit: Or does it?

based on the C/W ratings they give for a 92mm Vantec fan, it scores 0.149C/W and 0.145C/W for the 80mm version. That is a ratio mind u in relation to the fan size.

Checking the O/cers.com Heatsink rankings., the Thermalright SP94 scores that for an Intel sized die, and the the SLK800U scores 0.15C/W, in comparison on an AMD sized die, the scores go up to 0.22C/W for the SLK900U. So in relation, if this monster does what it is rated to do, it will cream every single cooler out there for AMD sockets. This C/W rating also comes close to a fair few waterblocks.

I have to conclude that any difference is ambiguous.

Some reviews one does better, some reviews they do the same, some reviews the other does better.
