Swiftech Apex Ultra question

I'm just wondering if the radiator on the Swiftech Apex Ultra kit (H20-220) can be mounted with the inlet/outlets pointed either towards or away from the case. I am thinking about buying this setup, and the Gigabyte 3D Aurora case will make it alot easier, having grommets for the tubing already installed. If I could mount the rad on the rear with the inlet/outlet facing out then I could easily just run it into the case.

The rad can be mounted in either direction. It is not a problem.

but if you wanted to put it the other way it shouldnt be a problem. just slightly more hose.
 
forgive me for prying but is that the only reason you're selecting that case is bec it comes with holes and gaskets?

And yes, that's basically the only reason, the easier the better. Of course up until just a couple hours ago I'd never heard of an Armor case, so that's also a possibility now. It IS a nice case, but maybe the armor would be better if it will allow for less tubing

is there anywhere else that will allow for easy mounting of the res? Could it be done eaisly on the bottom of the case?
 
Well you generally want your res at the highest point of the loop but if the bottom is where you want it, it can be done.
 
Great choice for case. :D

Not only does it come with pre dilled holes. For me it also came with a easy solution to mount the rad with 2 fans. I took longer screws that went through the fans and into the rad.

 
I have my res at the bottom next to the pump. In my case:

I dont see any room up top to put the res and have easy access to refill it if necessary. So I put it in the bottom outta the way.

Why wouldn't it be? Either way, there will be 2 fans blowing on it. I didn't see much point leaving the case fans in and then having 2 case fans, blowing on 2 more fans, one inch away.
 
So do those 2 12cm fans you have suck in air or blow it onto the rad?

I really like how the guy in that vid set up the T-line system, but seems like its a BITCH to bleed. Actually I like your T too.

You just used standard hose clamps eh?
 
They blow. This weekend I will try having them suck and also put 2 more fans on the back for some blowing/sucking action. :eek:

I'm thinking that might help a bit.... that's what I'm thinking of doing is putting 2 on the back on the outside of the case blowing into the rad, and 2 on the inside blowing air into the case, basically all 4 fans in push. I figure it should help the outside 2 fans suck in more air as well as bring down the ambient temperature in the case.

I have so many questions for you :p

What do you think of the case overall? Was the system fairly easy to install? What are your temps like? How did you bleed the T-line and how hard was it? Would it be easier to set up using a res? I'm thinking about getting one that goes in a 5-1/4" bay.

I like the case because its easy just to slap a 2x120 rad to the back, since there is already 2x120 fans back there. Also real easy to exchange the front fan( stock ones suck). Other than that, its just a regular case to me.

Temps: First of all I have a evga board which from what I get from the forums, reads temps 5c-15c high. With opteron 170 at 1.55 vcore at 10x275 I get 43c idle and 55c load. I will be trying this w/c////case set up on another comp this weekend. Using gigaboard and MSI board and will compare what the temps are reading from those.

Res: I used the res for a week and will never go back to a res again. I could never get the air out. With a t-line I got more air out in 1 day than 1 week with the res. Plus I like the look of the t-line and its less tubing.
 
What did you do to bleed the res? I watched that vid but it still wasn't 100% clear

What size tubing comes with the kit? 7/16" ID?
 
all the air was out of my system in about an hour in my setup
i guess because i have the res higher than everything else.
i just let it run and everything self bled.

the reason i didnt install the rad inside of my case is because I have 5 hard drives and i wanted all of them to get good airflow.
