Well I hit 4gig on stock air, at first I tried and it didnt post, I powered off and then powered on again and it works good. The only thing I cant do is play games as it heats up to much. Right now at idle its around 58c but I can do photoshop and surf etc.. I ordered a XP90 with a panaflo 80 should lower the temps abit I think. Fsb is at 269 vcore at 1.475 its been a few hours and still is ok I tried playing CS but it locked up I think the temp is to high so Ill wait till the hs and fan come in. Some Pics to show, Who would have thought 4gig on stock air :)

Get it to be stable at that speed and you will have a really nice overclock. In my opinion, its not a valid overclock unless its stable. At that low vcore though, the fact that you can do some stuff on it is really good. Hopefully the better cooling will help you stabilize it. Nice cpu though.

Then its not a real overclock. It must be stable for it to be a valid overclock .. try again (maybe with a better then stock cooler .. and more vcore)
 
hey u guys, is 58c an ok temp to run my athlon 64? this is load ofcourse....... i can sqeeze that extra 100 mhz outta my cpu, but i am scared of the temp going to 58c on load :) ... suggestions?
 
aZn, I personally just tried keeping my load temps under 60C....on stock it was @ 59C under full load ~2.5GHz. If you're going to overclock and temp is limiting you, get yourself a better heatsink...well worth the money.
 
well, i guess if i do it your way, it's safe for me to keep it under 60c, but don't go over right.. and o yeah!!! one more question...i have my thermaltake silent boost, and the fan on it sucks! 27.5cfm of air moved... do the fan on the cpu heatsink blows air in or out of the heatsink....?
 
Well, the actual design is supposed to blow air away from it, since warm air rises, and sucking in cool air thru the fins, but at some point they reversed it so the fans blow AT the heatsink...I guess you need a more aggressive setup with such a hot piece of equipment. Technically it can run either effectively, but for CPUs, I run the fan blowing DOWN AT the heatsink.

On car stereo tho, you have fans blow away....eh, to each equipment it's own.
 
ok, i just took off the fan and it blows in the heatsink.. i am gonna replace that junky fan with one of my coolermaster fans

That thing's a prescott... You could make your breakfast on it and it will still be operational.

Nice OC, though. I bet with that xp-90 you could hit 4.1 or 4.2 ghz...
But again, consider... lowering it by say 200mhz will give you stability and no noticable REAL-WORLD difference in performance. Unless of course you're rendering a 3d animation that does one frame a minute :) . Although I couldn't render much in 3dsmax with even a slight overclock.
