The last thread went berserk and was with good reasons locked but would still like to discuss this game.

Just keep it civil, and it's all good. Not talking to anyone in particular, but if there is a repeat performance by the same people, it will not be pretty. So feel free to discuss, or even diss the game. Just keep the insults to yourselves or don't post.

I haven't actually heard anything about this game. but I do remember the original SWAt games and they were pretty cool.

About the only complaint I have with the game is the team AI, they're still as stupid as they were in Swat 3. If you stick more than two of them near a door and have them bust in, there's a good chance they'll momentarily get stuck and if there's a baddie nearby, they're sitting ducks.

And the M4 has the worst weapon modeling I've seen since Quake I, which is a little weird since all of the other guns look fine.

I personally enjoy the game, the AI is somewhat buggy, the team doesn't always respond like they should. I have been having a blast playing co-op online. I haven't been through all the single player missions yet, but I am enjoying it so far. Overall, I give it an 8/10.

I tried the demo. Not my cup of water. Looks pretty though.

The game looks kind of wierd to me, because the SWAT guys seem to be standing up with their backs straight, like they are walking in the park or something. Aren't SWAT people supposed to stay low...like at some sort of ready position with their weapon? From the videos I've seen it doesnt look like they are ready for a fight, and it really bugs me.

Don´t start this again Flannel. It´s allowed to link to gamespot ;).

BTW if you want to check videos check IGN and gamespots video reviews. The animations are better than in those pre beta videos.

im merely correcting falsified information about the IGN score. if they want to ban me for that, then fine.

today i tried the multiplayer, and it is just as crap as the single.

the run walk speed is the same snail slow, the lag on some servers is terrible + the slow speed = f8ck. coop is nothing to be excited about. no one actually works as a team, its still the old cs everyone versus comp crap. i guess if you play lan with someone next to you it would be ok, but not on internet games..

whups
I copy and pasted a lot of the info so I didn't check to see what ign gave it
so I removed the score and provided a link to their review

this thread is already dead so I don't know why I bothered

anyhow

I think that SWAT 4 is a good game on it's own if it were called something else

when it is the next installment in a series people that enjoyed previous titles have certain expections and wants

for me SWAT 4 fell short of this

as a game a think it's a solid title
good graphics
and the gameplay is exactly what they claim it to be

I have been playing this game since the demo and prefer the multiplayer side of it

if you have only tried the MP co-op mode try some of the vs modes
they can be fun
The multiplayer has a lot of aspects that I enjoy
it's not a fast paced shoot em up
but the fire fights in the game can get intense

one thing that seems pretty stupid is that virtually every map has wither FULL gas cans and or explosive gas cyclinders

all of which blow up when shot

how many full gas cans do people really have around?

they are obviously there to add some spice since you can kill off as many people are near them with one shot

the game's code seems poorly done
they minimum requirements are a joke

I've had a lot of trouble with my framerate and I'm not alone
others with similar systems are also having the same difficulties

it's a shame the other thread got locked
I had every intention to create another one but oqvist beat me to it

I still don't think this game has a very long lived future, we will have to see if some of the major issuse are resolved in a patch
if not then I'm sure people will become tired of dealing with these issues and move on to better games

i know this is an old topic by now. But i just got the game. Playing single player sucks. Playing Co-op with a few buddies is pretty damn fun. The only thing that sucks though is the fact of how quick you die, and when you die you have to wait for everyone else to finish the mission... or die themselves... And yes this game does seem to get old pretty quick

Single Player i give it a 5/10 for the first hour. 3/10 after that

Multiplayer i give it a 9/10 for first hour. 7/10 after that

Just got this game....

Anyone else get poor FPS in singleplayer? I can barely run the game @ 1280x960 with 4xaa/8xaf very high...sometimes it drops to like 17fps!

for some reason ATI cards arent running the game as good as Nvidia cards. I guess its a driver problem

ATI cards had trouble with Raven Shield as Well, not that either game has anything to do with each other buy my ATI card really struggled with that game. I think it has to do with for certain filters and AA settings. I can play it 1920x1200 2xQAA 8xAF or 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF with my 6800GT fine though..

It's a cool game if you want to break away from the typical games out right now. I was really in the mood for a tactical sim so I bought it. I liked the previous Swat's as well as the police question games. I got about 60-70% completed and a few nights dedicated to co-op then I picked up the new splinter cell and haven't played it since. I will come back to it after splinter cell though.
