Hi,

Currently have a hx620 psu and was wanting to upgrade to the hx850 corsair psu..

Can I keep all the original cables hooked up throughout my pc and just exchange the psu units themselves?

Don't want to unplug everything from everything unless I have too..

Thanks

I did this when switching from an HX520 to a 620 with no issues. If the connections are the same you should be good to go.

The HX520 and HX620 are both Seasonic PSUs, whereas the HX850 is a CWT unit. The HX850 uses different types of modular cables, so you will need to remove the old ones.

Shit... uh sorry, I mean thanks :)

Also, when gaming on a intensive game with all settings maxed out and my current rig (check sig), do you think my current hx620 watter will handle all this.. the reason I ask is I getting system crashes and trying to eliminate possible causes..

I've got a similar rig (O/C to 3.4Ghz, 12GB vs 3GB RAM, AMD 4870 vs GTX 285, and only a single 1.5TB HDD) and have never seen it pull more than ~250 Watts from the Wall while playing Crysis at 1900x1200 'Gamer' settings.

For what it's worth,

corsair will tell you NOT to use any other cables except the ones that came with your psu. you run the risk of having different gauge wiring on a diffrent psu even IF the connectors are the same. id rather be safe than sorry.

Worth alot, thanks. How can I check what its drawing from the wall at any given time?
