Swapping optical sensors

I got this mouse that came with my keyboard. Mitsuki, PS/2 only. It has a nice shape for gaming I think, but skips too much for using. So I had this idea to buy a cheap optical intellimouse (can get them for like $13 Canadian funds), and swap innards. I prefer USB, so would have to swap all the guts I think. Anyone tried this before?

I'm guessing since the brands are different, this won't work. Though it is shaped almost the same as an intellimouse 3.0, just a bit smaller, and without side buttons. So made me wonder...

I'm thinking that the PCB may not be the same shape. At least optical sensors are forgiving when it comes to getting everything aligned. (no moving parts).

Has anyone even heard of Mitsuko mice?

Yes, I have heard ot Mitsuki mice, and they make keyboards.

You can switch out the LED from the mouse, I've seen it done before, though I don't know if that'd affect it or anything.

I think the reason why the mouse skips is the polling rate of the sensor. So I'm thinking that the entire board would need to be taken out of one mouse and put into the other. Guess the only way to tell if this is possible is to open up this mouse and a microsoft one... Also, I think the switches for the buttons are stuck to the PC board, but not sure. Wondered if anyone else had tried this, but maybe I'm the only one crazy enough to think of this idea. ;)
