Swapping Motherboard + CPU without breaking into loop?

Hey,

So I am curious. Do people do this, or is it a bad idea?

I am building my first WC loop in the imminent future, but I am considering (depending on how good it is) investing in a Zen motherboard & CPU towards the end of the year or early next year.

I have the EK Supremacy block, which seems compatible with just about every CPU ever made, with the right mouting hardware, and I'm assuming that once Zen releases, if they change anything from previous AMD mounts, it will only be a matter of time before mounting hardware is available for it as well.

The CPU will be in roughly the same spot, as will the GPU.

Is it feasible to replace everything without touching the loop, or is it a better idea to fully drain it, just in case you put some force on something an pop a hose off.

I'd appreciate your input!

if you are using soft tubing and leave just a little extra length then i don't see this being a problem at all. if you are using compression fittings then just don't pull too hard. if you use barbs you shouldn't worry at all.

You can do a straight swap if you want, however you still need to do a leak test.

I've done it before, it's no issue at all. To me it's less hassle to work with everything assembled than it is to drain and refill.
