you can start pre-ordering the Swan m200mkiii at TAI

"Wow; the New M200MkIII is on the way for September! Double the power, bi-amplification, better bass, and solid hardwood; this is the definitive M200-class super-monitor! Check it out now, here." from the Audio Insider.

They are $399.

What's different in the third-generation M200? The new MkIII version of the famed Swan studio monitor has doubled power for the most sound and lowest distortion per decibel yet. Swan have completely revised the on-board electronics for a whopping 120 combined system watts, which when driving a speaker as naturally sensitive as the amply-sized, 5.25"-woofered M200MkII, means real room-filling output -- remember, the M200 series isn't a tiny multimedia speaker. The M200 series are large enough to be used as main speakers for nearly anything requiring great sound from a small-footprint loudspeaker:

Swan have thoroughly upgraded the M200MkII. The Swan M200MkIII keeps the classic M200 overall form factor and profile, but adds solid hardwood side panels, improved bass tuning, much more power, and individual amplifiers per driver. The M200MkIII is actually now closer in performance to the top-of-the-line T200B than it is the original M200.

Looks like some nice speakers, but a bit pricey.

Possible price drop in the future? Right now I would rather buy the mk2's, plus I have krk rp5, so both of the speakers probably sound similar.

Active crossovers = awesome, but not sure it's worth the money considering they didnt change much beyond more amp power and the crossover.

My M200MKII looks outdated now. I want these or the Audio engine A5

im looking at these bad boys. had the audioengine a5...they were nice. didn't blow me away (aesthetically or sonically) but they were nice.

don;t mean to hijack this thread but what soundcard do you recommend with the MKIII's? I've heard good things about the ASUS Essence STX but I didn;t know it was better for headphone.

also, it says that the MKIII has an 3.5mm to rca jack but which direction? like rca on speaker to 3.5mm or vice a versa?

thanks!

the soundcard i was looking at (asus essence stx) comes with an rca to 3.5mm adapter i think. or maybe the speakers come with it

Essence STX is pretty much the best card you can get. Worth £150 in my opinion.

Read the 2nd post in this thread and you will see.

EDIT: criccio was a minute faster than I was.
