Whenever I start up my laptop for the first time after properly shutting it down, svchost always takes up ~99-100% of my system resources (which makes the laptop SLOOOOOW!) Since I can't shut down the laptop when it's in this condition, I always have to hold the power button until it turns off. Then when I start it up again it's back to normal. This problem drives me absolutely nuts! I just reformatted to see if it would fix the problem, but it's still doing the same thing! Right now I have 4 instances of SVCHOST.EXE running when I look at the task manager's processes tab. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it? Please let me know what you did to fix it =) Thanks

It's normal to have several instances of svchost.exe running. I have 5 right now running on my laptop. I'd look into any spyware, viruses, or maybe utility that's running at startup that's causing it.
