Hey never messed with cams that much before

A friend has 3 composite(RCA) cams set up recording to a vcr at his business.

He wants to record from the cams to his computer for 24 hour recording.

He doesn't have internet at business

The problem how to connect the 3 cams to the pc and eliminate the vcr.

Video Capture Card?Will anyone work?

What software?

Want to use the equipment that's already there with the exception of cables,pc card.

Thanks Nate

You can use any capture card as long as it has enough RCA jacks or buy multiple video capture cards. You just need to make sure you get the right connection type like PCI. Here is an example.

As for the software, this is where things get a little tricky. You have to use some kind of screen capture software and have BIG hard drive. But to be honest, I wouldn't go this route. The setting up process is going to be pain because you will configuring the software from scratch and there is no support. Instead, I would go this route because it's an all-in-one package. It's cheap, uses a hard drive instead of VHS tapes, and the software is included.

Thanks Elvisg.Looking at the systems now.Maybe i can talk him into a system they look a lot simpler and nicer lol.

One Question for you tho the systems can be used with Network/Internet?

Yeah always get what you pay for.Cept don't need anything to fancy just enough.Hard drives aren't to big of a deal. Most the ones i am reading are saying over network.need something that will stand alone don't need remote viewing at this time.
