Surround / SLI Question

In the nvidia control panel when you are under 3D Settings, and SLI Configuration, how do you make sure that SLI in enabled when you are selecting the option: Span displays with Surround..

Beneath there it says "Sli disabled"

The only option that allows it to say "SLI enabled" is when you click: Maximize 3D Performance..

I'm using 3x1 portrait monitors, and I want it to be in surround but with SLI enabled... it'll be rough trying to use 3x1 without SLI being enabled.
