I just bought an APC P74 rated at 1080 Joules. Prior to that i had this REALLY old power bar made my NOMA (my dad bought it for the 286) Anyway the old one is HEAVIER and rated at 125volts 15AMPS 1875watts. Now its saved my ass in the past but i don't know if the protection works anymore. I know for PSU's heavier tends to mean its better, does the same apply for surge protectors? Oh and i realize the voltage rating is higher on the APC one so i guess thats good.

Ive tried about 5 different surge protectors ranging from $5-$60 and nothing comares to the UPS APC 800Va 540Watt backup unit. it does soo much more than just surge protecting
