One designer has taken the liberty of translating Microsoft’s “hinged foldable tablet” patent into a number of concept images that allude to what a potential Surface Phone (or “Surface Note”, as he calls it) could look like. The device, which resembles a small pocketbook when closed, may be fully opened and laid flat for a large-screen experience, folded 90 degrees and placed upright for videos, or flipped the other way for more of a traditional smartphone experience. Foldable screens should be very interesting when they finally debut.

I'd be interested in how well the screen wears if it was indeed foldable. Any material that folds is going to fatigue with use and I think that might be one of the technological hurdles to getting this design to fruition.

You *could* do it now if you have the balls, but it would have to be 2 screens nearly bezel-less at the seam.

So this would sport a flexible OLED screen? How would that work for the area around the hinges?
