I just purchased this board as an open box from Newegg. It already had the v2 BIOS flashed (IvyBridge). Also worth noting is that it was a complete retail kit (SATA cables, unused IO Shield, manual, cd). I suspect the recent open Supermicro open boxes are from Supermicro (I also have an X8SIA-F that included all the items from the retail kit).
If anyone is worried about having to flash the BIOS for IvyBridge, this may be a good route to try, though you have to keep an eye open for when these become available.
