Anyone know what PSU SuperMicro uses in thier cases? Specificiallly, the SC742 and SC743s?

And, more importantly - Are they any good? 26A on the 12V doesn't seem too hefty these days, and if you're going to be putting 8 SATA drives in that thing... Well...

Why ABLECOM of course!

VERY good PSU's.

I have a number of Supermicro's in play because they're one of the few with hot-swappable SATA drive bays. All of mine are dual-Athlon with at least four drives running in RAID 5 in each. :D

The thing that sucks the most about them is the 12V 2x2 is sooooo short because it's made to fit Supermicro boards (that have the 2x2 located in the upper right quadrant of the board.) I've had to cut and splice my own 12V connectors on them before.

I have 2 x Ablecom 2Us
they are older, but very reliable, of course the EPS12V spec has shifted just like the ATX12V spec to reflect the needs of the components, that means newer models will have more +12V amps devoted within a given wattage class.

As to the actual compliance to the EPS12V or ATX12V spec, at one point there wasnt multiple +12V rails, now there is, what either of those might or might not comply with I dont know
neither list multiple rails
(ATX12V v2.0 would be 2 x, current EPS12V would be 3 or 4 x +12V)
the fact both a 4 pin and 8 pin auxillary +12V mobo connector are listed suggests they are compatible to either spec if not necessarilly fully compliant

Ablecom is a brand made exclusively for SuperMicro as far as I know
the supplies are strong enterprise class workhorses, that meet basic compliance for load regulation and AC Ripple
