hey all. I want to get my house n-ready but my iphone doesn't support it.
I was reading around and it was suggested that you could simply add a g-router to an existing n-network to send out both

could someone help elaborate on how that would be done?

btw, the other components just include a couple of laptops and a soon-to-be media streamer of some sort.

802.11n*/b/g devices will all be able to talk to each other without anything needing to be done.

*assuming it's an n device in the 2.4ghz band

802.11n access point generally have an option for you to set it so that it works with b and g also. Or you can set it to work with n devices only. Most if not all are backwards compatible with g.

I see. so if I understand correctly, as far as setup...

let's just say the primary N router is in the office where all the computer stuff is... modem, main pc etc.

- I just place the G router anywhere else in the house
- the N router sends the signal everywhere including to the G router,
- the G takes the N signal and just repeats it in G form ...??

thus resulting in both N and G signals throughout the house?

that doest sound right. the G router can't accept the N signal right?
