Hey Everyone,

I'm new(ly registered) to these forums but i've been reading them for quite some time now!

Just yesterday I replaced a 580 GTX 3gb with 2x XFX Double D FX-795A-TDKC Radeon HD 7950 Black Edition in CF, and wanted to quickly run 3dmark11 to see the difference.

The graphics score was a major improvement (up to 19k).. however, both my Physics score and Combined score were between 1000-1500 - resulting in an overall score of around 4k -- and i'm just completely lost for what else to look for.

3dmark states my memory is running at 800mhz (though I think it's just reading a different SPD).

System specs:
i7 2600k @ 4ghz
ASRock P67 Extreme4 w/ latest bios (3.1 I think)
2x4gb G.skill DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)
2x XFX Double D FX-795A-TDKC Radeon HD 7950 Black Ed.
128gb SSD Primary & 2x 1TB Data HDDs
Corsair 1200W PSU

Any ideas?

Confirm your RAM speed with another application. Is your CPU set to down-clock based on load or thermal state? What was your CPU score before changing your GPU configuration?

Hey teh_chem, thanks for the reply!

If i use CPU-Z to check memory: DRAM Freq: 1066.9 Mhz, FSB:DRAM 1:8, Timings 9-11-9-28 2T. SPD States i'm running the XMP 1.2 Profile which is XMP-2132 1066Mhz, 9-12-9-29. tRC 50, Command Rate 1T (just noticed there are some differences between the profile spec and what's running.. i'll look into that)

I believe I do have those options set for the CPU in BIOS to downclock on thermal, but CPU temps never break 45 C, are there any specific options I should look for?

CPU Score prior, I do not remember the score specifically but.. thinking back.. this same problem existed with the GTX 580 in 3dmark but not in other games. (poor physics / combined scores) -- I believe my P Score with the GTX 580 was in the 3xxx's.

I will reboot quick and check bios for the memory settings.

Only 2 notable differences between what the XMP Profile reports in CPU-Z vs. Settings in BIOS was the tRC and CR. tRC on profile states 50, profile set it at 171, i changed it to 100 and was able to boot successfully (not at 50). CR changed to 1T and was not a problem.

Tried Physics test in 3dmark11 -- same -- chugs at 3.5-4.2 FPS.
