I still have to work on my wiring, and I need to secure the pump but it's up and running!

I made a shroud for the radiator, and it is secured with some U channel type stuff I fabbed up with the aluminum sheet metal I used for the shroud. I just riveted it into the shroud. So the radiator slides into the U channel, then the shroud screws into the front of the case.

I did some work to my hdd cage so I could keep it, but unfortunately since I'm using IDE hard drives, it just won't fit. Once I go all SATA, I will be able to install it. I chopped it in half, so only two drive sleds fit in it, and I also shortened it so it would fit in the new relocated spot. I moved it back in the case about 8 inches or so.

To mount the drive cage, I made a bottom piece that is riveted into the cage, and it screws into the bottom floor of the case.

Here are the PICS!

full setup, here you can see the full radiator & rear fan mounted onto the shroud.

here's the drive cage. the top isn't cut straight because on the cage there is this weird bubble, so I cut around the contour of it. It's not visible when in the case

Cleaned up my wires and crap a bit last night....I need to do a little more work and get the pump mounted, but I'm really happy with the results of cleaning it up!

dont need any :) all the barbs are 1/2" except the pump, and those are still on GOOD.

I leak tested it a long time before installing it ;)

Love the shroud it makes it look cleaner like the case was built for water cooling :D Nice work.

a girl modder

I LOVE IT !!! :D

i wish i had a gf that was into modding :(
but i don't think my wife would go for that idea :D lol

thanks guys!

I cut the shroud with a dremel, and formed it on the edge of an old table with a rubber mallet.

I used a hole saw to get the fan hole cut out...I am loving that thing! it makes cutting holes for fans SO easy!

Here's a pic of the shroud in test fitting around the radiator, before I put the U channel brackets inside it to hold the radiator in place

As you can see the shroud is just a piece of sheet metal shaped like a box, with flanges on the ends to bolt up to the case.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, considering I didn't have a real bender to make good sharp bends

I think it looks better with soft bends :)

good work ! ;)

I have to make a shroud like that but with 2/120 fan holes

they're not super low or anything, but a lot lower than with my AX-7 and 80mm Tornado!

In case you can't see my sig, I'm running at 200x13@1.9v on a 2500+ xp-m, so the voltage is pretty damn high.

My idle cpu temp is 36C, load never goes over 41C. I'm hoping it'll drop a bit once the AS5 sets in, too.

I asked because I saw your sig, and I'm setting up s/c for my xp/nf7. And then I asked because I saw the voltage...

Get some clamps, sur eppl say its on tight, but the fact of the matter thats still rubber tubing, and it stretches. I wouldnt get thos plastic ones, get the metal ones with the tiny screw, so you can make them nice and tiite, Youll be thanking me when your case ISNT holding bettas ;)

I understand what you're saying, but I am using 3/8" ID, 3/32 wall tubing on 1/2" barbs. The tubing is on so tightly that I have to CUT it to take it off the barbs. The only tubing I can PULL off is the stuff connected to the pump, and even then it takes a LOT of force to pull them off

:)

How loud is that DD 12v? I want to add a WC system to my Super Lanboy this year. I am actually looking into that pump as well.

i can't hear it at all, with the supplied foam pad that sticks to the bottom.

Weeeeeeell, it's not SILENT...I have 3 Evercool aluminum fans and you can hear them.

BUUUT it's WAY more quiet than my old setup with a 80mm Tornado, that's for sure! You can't hear it unless you're in my computer room.

I dont mean to be a prick, but thats still no reason. Plus, your tubing could start tearing (I work with vivariums, hence I work with alot of pumps and tubings, hence I see alot of that) and that = stretching which = leakings.

They cost like 10 dollars for a pack of 20. It's not gonna break the bank, and it makes your system alittle more safer.

I agree with Hate_Bot...

Saying you dont need clamps on there cause the tubing is on tight is like saying your nuclear reactor doesn't need emergency shutdown procedures because you cool the reactor so well.

Ok a bad analogy, but you get the idea. Just because it seems fine now, and it might be fine for the long forseeable future is no reason not to add that extra precaution. When the bad things that could happen far outweigh the small out of pocket expense. Just my two cents.

I guess I agree too. You did such a nice job getting it in a lanboy, I'm sure you meant to be carting that rig around to parties. Do you really feel safe throwing that in the back of your car and taking it all over the place without hose clamps?

Things stretch after a while, its natural.

Exactly, trust me, Ive had aalot of flooded enviorments when I forget to secure hose clamps. Sometimes that means losing costly Tropical plants, or even >$100 frogs

wow... what did you do to that poor case... killed the best thing about it the easy out HDD drive bays... i dont much like it neither... take a look at my case and well consider doing that and putting back in your Bays...
Go there and take a look

I think you did ok other then taking that out... ;)

Great job scott, especially on the shroud. Is it easy to use this method to bend metal with reasonable accuracy without the proper tools? I need to bend some metal for my next project, and I want it to look good w/o dings :)

btw, what gauge aluminum did you use? How much was the sheet?

Well if we are going to be thread High Jacking i can help: Oh and i WIN

And why do you all kill the best thing about the Antecs, the killer Hdd bays, what is with you people

dont be jealous cause mine looks better in the dark, i just put this together last week still not done, im getting a dangerden gpu cooler and an extra 120mm radiator to cool the water from the cpu before going in to the gpu and im going to mount it on the naked fan you see there sucking out of course.

DID I NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THREAD HIGH JACKING, "DAMB" "YOUR THE KING"

I think it looks better with the ugly harddrive cage removed especially if you only have 1 or 2 harddrives in it.

Ok find a good place to put the HDDs then

well since floppy are useless nowa days just put them in there if useing 1 or 2 but more then hard drives bays are good to have.
