Super faded crt, help!

the picture in my crt is slowly becoming more faded. A few weeks ago i saw a thread in here about this subject exactly, but didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it and now i cannot track it down. I guess first off, what's the deal? Second, what can i do to fix it?

Depends on what make and model you have, Theres a couple Sony / Dell models that are prone to this problem over time ,This site shows how to fix it: http://www.hutzelman.com/home/hardware/mods/monitor/

is it time for a new one?

edit: thanks for the link - that is the type of problem i'm looking at, i guess i just needed someone else to help explain it better - "the absence of a good black level - even with the brightness set to 0, the monitor will show blacks as bright greys."

...so no one else ran across that thread that i'm talking about, it was about a month ago on here? talking about aperature grills fading and a link on how to tinker on the inside to fix it with out killing yourself
