super bargain 8350

I got one, not bad, 8-core, almost as fast as the fastest Intel for 1/3 price! The next day it went back up to $175 but then dropped to $150.
 
$130 on the Intel side buys you a crappy 2c/4t i3 w/o HT.

The common man's chip: AMD. ;)
 
At $100 that's a ton of performance, especially once overclocked to 4.5ghz+.
 
Yeah they definitely need to be running 4ghz++ ideally at least 5GHz and some chips won't do it...insane amount of Vcore needed etc they will use every damn bit of it too rofl, and too many of the boards are just not up to the task of really running the hell out of one like that...low phase/weak VRMs boards man wtf...
 
I went even lower for my office/HTPC, got the FX6300 at microcenter with a free M5A78L-M motherboard for a grand total of $89. Runs great and does everything I want it to do, and isn't very hot either. I added some heatsinks to the VRM's but they never even get warm to the touch.
