I was thinking about getting this:
http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/ls-bk.html
And I had a few questions about it.
1. How does the sound sensitive thing work? I have some coolermaster sound sensitive ccfl's and the switch has a sound sensor on it, I saw that the lightbus says that it plugs into your sound card, what does it plug into? I don't have a sound card.
2. What all needs to be connected to the lightbus? Does it go ccfls--->inverter--->lightbus or does the lightbus have a inverter right in it so it is just ccfls--->lightbus?

1) It will plug into whatever sound you're using. The output from your motherboard will be fine. I believe it is usually a black cable, but that could depend on what sort of output you're using.

2) You will have to use an inverter.

FWIW, my sound activation feature was crap and it broke. But others have had them work fine. I actually haven't heard of anyone else having the sound activation malfunction like mine did. If you get it and it works fine, I'm jealous

The sound activation module uses the output from your soundcard via a headphonejack-type cable.

I've used this lightbus on several projects, and never had a problem with them.

I'd be real weary of anything made by Sunbeam. I bought a Chromatic Windmill made by them back in November of 2005. It cuaght fire a little over 2 weeks ago (it wasn't even 3 months old). I emailed their warranty department the night it happened.

A week and a half goes by..no answer so I shoot them another email only this time a lot less polite. I get a reply and it basically consists of, "Wow, sorry to hear that. Send us some pictures of it. We'll then decide if we want to back up our products with a replacement."

So, I'm basically taking it as a big "F-You" from Sunbeamtech. Especially since I've been waiting for roughly 3 weeks for some kind of answer from them on whether or not I should send it back.

Their products suck IMO and their customer service is even worse.

ouch sounds like they dont even wanna help you out at all.. and asking for pictures? ive never seen any tech support ask for pictures like that. almost as if they wanna post the pictures online so people can have a small laugh.

Tahts the impression I got. Which is fine with me. I'll use my consimer rights now to persuade people to buy products that aren't made by Sunbeamtech.

I had bought their ccfl inverter go out on me too at which point I was like, F U sunbeam tech, but their lightbus is the only thing that I was looking for that does what I want it to do.
