Anyone ever hooked up a Sun D1000 SCSI array to a Windows based system?? I'd like to know the feasability of doing it since I've happened across a couple of them. ;)

Actually, one is a D1000 (just an array) and the other is an A1000 (hardware RAID array).

I already have a U160 SCSI RAID card, so I figured I'd start off trying to get the D1000 connected and setup the A1000 farther down the line when I pick up a SCSI adapter.

Thanks.

No... but i'll try if you send it to me. :D

The D1000 should work. They're just a box of disks if I remember right.
The A1000 may be a bit tougher. It'll probably work fine once you get it going, but you may have difficulty setting it up. The catch here is that you might have to use some sort of special utility software to configure the array since it's a hardware controller. Seeing as it's Sun hardware there may not be Windows versions of any required utilites.
If I had one of these I'd probably dust off my Ultra 10 and get a SCSI card for it.
I think it might also be possible to use the D1000 as an expansion to the A1000, thus having hardware raid on all the drives.

Yeah, I've tried hooking the D1000 up to my RAID card, but no dice so far. It's being a little biotch.

I've been trying to read the documentation for it on Sun's website, but it's hard since they like to create a seperate PDF for every single thing involved with these arrays. Hell, I even found a PDF that's sole purpose was to tell you how to how to physically remove a drive from them.

I was just hoping that someone else here had some experience with them and could tell me more about them... anyone?? :p
