Ok guys, hows it goin?

I have an A64 3400 Claw,DFI LanParty UT nF3 250Gb ( 10/15 bios w/ memtest ), and a Gigabyte X800XT PE and ever since I can remember, i've been getting slowdowns with this rig when my CPU is at stock speeds. I know for a fact that an A64 3400 is more than enough for games I play ( Desert Combat, SWAT 4 etc.. ) So...there must be a problem somewhere...

Here is clue #1...(AGP speed=0, FW=off ) -8x AGP in bios and FW on in bios

Then, I ran 3dmark05, and scored 3,900! AA/AF off and everything was on performance settings. The card is @ stock speeds, along with the CPU. Whats going on? For some reason, my CPU can no longer stay stable at 2.4Ghz, when it used to be Prime Stable when I first got it....So....I really dont know what to do.
 
PCI bus 1 is your AGP bus so that is correct...

But I am assuming that your AGP should be at 8x.
 
benchmark it on games and if u get bad scores then u know something is really wrong...
 
AA and AF set to application controlled in CCP?

If that CPU aint stable then try and RMA

EDIT : Wait only if thats stock speeds though
 
I have my chipset drivers installed... ( 5.10 nf3 from nv.com )

And my CPU is prime stable @ 2.2ghz, but it fails @ 2.4ghz within minutes :(
 
On a hunch, try the nforce drivers for your mobo off of DFI's site. I don't have the same mobo, but nforce drivers off of Nvidia's site do not work correctly for me.. Couldn't hurt to try..
 
Do you have a/c in your house right now? Cause I don't and its really hot (86F). My 5600u is running at 53C at idle temperatures (200mhz instead of 400mhz), and my processor is running at 50C idle. Im not even going to commit to playing games right now, and if I do I'm going to have to underclock everything. Who knows what the north bridge is running at :rolleyes: . So my question is, what are your temps?
 
You didn't mention if your video card is overclocked. Set it back to normal clocks if it is. Might sound stupid, but when I first got my 9800 Pro, I couldn' t understand why my 3dmark scores were so low, especially overclocked. It was only later that I realized I had never run the card through at stock speeds and it was throttling with only minor overclocking. Setting clocks back to stock was a big performance increase.

yes he did...read the end of his initial post slower.

Set the AGP speed to 8X. Stop trying to overclock your processor.

The videocard and CPU temps you are stating are WELL within thermal limits, what do you mean you wont "commit to games". Where do you people come from with these wierd notions that you'll destroy your computer at perfectly safe temps. Temperatures must be one of the most confused and mis-used reasons i'v seen for problems or excuses.

Right next to "my computer sounds louder when its warm so i dont use it". I mean no offence but....just wow'd.

I tried download the 5.10s from the DFI site, but they're the international version....hm...
 
I think I would use the ati cleaner utilities and reinstall the newest driver..
Then I would probably disable SMARTGART (Ask how on rage3d forums).

If that doesnt work, I'd try a fresh OS installation with the latest directx and drivers.
