Hey there guys, this is mainly directed towards whomever lives without A/C or south of the equator.

Today the temps started soaring where I live and I'm having my machine lock up while gaming (Pariah, COD2). Tried dropping my winny clockspeed to stock and tried playing again but nothing, still hardlocks up after about 15 minutes of play and when post shows my cpu temps at reboot it's at 50 or so. What do you guys when this kind of situation arises?

Hmm... Take a siesta? Move to a cooler climate? lol

Seriously tho, when you overclocked, did you raise your cpu voltage? If you did, did you remember to reduce it again after?

Have you checked to see if your CPU heatsink and fan are clear of dust? That's often a cause of system instability, if your heatsink is matted up with hair and dust.

Nope, didn't get into raising voltage, mainly because I'm running on stock cooling and want to keep Cool N Quiet enabled. Dust it out weekly, have to have a collie. Need I say more?

Will turning off my CCFL's help reduce heat a little? I figure not since they're, you know, COLD cathodes, but hey who knows?.
