Hello,
I would like to buy Popcorn Hour A-400 and put 4TB disk inside :)

I am worried about APM - Advanced Power Management when disk
parks its heads automatically, which produces annoying sound - so called chirping.

I have in my computer Seagate ST4000DM00 which does it. I am unfortunatelly
able to hear it even when I am not at my computer and sitting on the bed and watching TV.

For PC I use program which stops this APM permanently and disk is no longer to hear.

But in Popcorn I can not install this program.

Is any disk of this size out of there which is silent without this APM? Because I dont want
to hear these annoying sound when I will be watching movies. This ruins experience from the movie.

What about that new hybrid disk Seagate Desktop SSHD - 4TB ST4000DX001 ?
 
The quietest mechanical disk I've ever had were Seagate Baracudas. Not sure if that still holds true for the new models because I haven't had any of the newer high capacity ones.
 
Get a media player that doesn't need a drive. Keep storage on NAS or PC.

Sorry, but can't get excited about issues of a "Chirp" If you are watching media on the pop-tart then it won't be parking its head, will it?
