Well, seeing as how I have a fast computer now, and satellite internet (with a static IP), I was wondering if I could set up a webserver on my own computer.

I mean, I know I can, but how do I go about doing this?

I really wouldn't recommend a webserver on a Satellite connection, as the upstream seems to REALLY suck.

But the simplest way to do it in windows 2000/xp is:
goto control panel, add/remove software. add/remove windows components.
Check Internet Information Services(IIS) then click next.. make sure you have the cd in the drive.
you web by default will be c:\inetpub\wwwroot
But, i a prefer apache on a nix box.
 
Uptream.. meh, its about 80kbps.

It's not too bad, not like I'd be hosting half-life mods and what not lmao. If anything it'd be just a place for my family to have a website. (We can pay 8$ a month for a domain or whatever.)

I'm in the process of downloading fedora.. so I may go apache.
