I have three machines running just FAH, nothing else.
2.4P4
2.8Celeron
2.8P4 with HT
Maybe right now I get 7 thousand a month and I see notes where guys get 1300 a day???
I am a real noob so go easy and explain things.

Fold on the e6700 in your sig and you will get more than double those machines combined.
 
I agree with mwarps. If you feel like pushing the limits, you can run the SMP Linux client in VMware on that machine and get your current monthly output in less than 4 days.

My 3.4 GHz E6700 running just the VMware client at this instant is churning out 2191 PPD :eek: while working on a 1760 pt WU!

I'm in a similar situation:
e6400 at stock for now (cooling issue)
Radeon X1900GT @ 640/1.4GHz
XP Pro

Currently running one CPU, one GPU

Am I better off running the SMP client and ditching the Radeon?
(I should mention that my wireless card is unsupported by Linux, so it would be virtualized.)

i have the same question, and almost same rig and i would be running vmware. is the point gain still enough to ditch the gpu client and go smp on both cores?
 
The 6700 is on my gaming rig, I want to use the three machines I have dedicated to folding as I listed above. These machines are just sitting around otherwise, and would be useless............so I'm looking for suggestions on these particular rigs running XP.:D
 
I would dump the GPU client and install VMWare and the SMP client on anything that can take it if you are looking to maximize points only. I have VMware running on my PC that use as my primary gaming box and I just turn the VM off for the hour or 2 a week that I actually get to play games. Since you have to stop the GPU client to play games anyway it doesnt really hurt anything. I also have 2 standard instances of F@H installed on the box for if I am going to do any long protracted gaming so that they are doing something while I game. I tend to try and halt the SMP client as it finishes one unit (I usually get about 1.4 Units per day done on a C2D 6400 using the VMWare w/ SMP si it isnt hard for me to come home at night and wait till after dinner.. Sgut the VM down and play a game for a few hours. No deadlines missed and my machine is still folding 24x7..If I am going to be out of town and my box is going to run SMP for a few days I just take the WU that the standard client has pulled down and transfer them to my laptop so that they can crunch there so no work is wasted. This maximizes points for me on teh few machines that I have that run SMP (Of which I have 3 total..1 PC using WinXP/VMWare and 2 Macs)
 
Agree with the above post and if you have a single core machine that has a PCI-E slot then use the gpu in it.
