I'm getting ready to slap down the big bucks on my last system for a long while and would like some suggestions and comments on the parts I have planned. Here's the plan... (mostly from newegg of course)

Cooler Master Wave Master Black MID-TOWER CASE "TAC-T01-EK" - $148
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum - $149 (from zipzoomfly.com)
AMD64 3500+ - $399 (from zipzoomfly.com)
Corsair TWINX1024-3200XL - $276 (from zipzoomfly.com)
Antec "NeoPower" 480 watt - $121.45
WD Raptor 74GB - $177.25
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS - $85.99

Thats pretty much the important stuff. I want to get another secondary HD for "stuff" files. I was wondering what you all suggest for 200+ gig drives. I'm also not sure what video card to get quite yet. That'll probably be decided after HL2 comes out, leaning towards the 6800 GT right now though since it looks like it wont fall too far behind the ATI's. I'll be buying the mobo and ram from zipzoomfly because they have a rebate on the two, and the processor because its $60 cheaper than newegg. Any comments and/or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I'd get the Abit AV8. Everywhere I look its rated excellent, plus it's made my Abit, the best company ever (IMO).
everything else looks great.

I just ordered my new PC and am getting a 300GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10. They cost about $240, which isn't bad for the capacity. I'm strictly going off of a review in Maximum PC and a couple online reviews - I don't yet have it in my hands to give you my feedback. The drive has 16MB of cache and is apparently faster than any other 7200RPM drive (while not quite as fast as a Raptor).

Looks nice, I may be purchasing a similar setup sometime next week, except with a Silverstone Temjin TJ05 case. The wavemaster looks reallly sleek and nice, but I want a case with 120mm fans.

Let me know how you like it when you get it in and hooked up.

Are you going with the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard? If so let me know what you think once you get it in. Still not too sure what mobo to go with.

I plan on getting that mobo, since the Abit equivalent is plagued with problems, and the MSI gets AMAZING reviews, I'll let you know when I get mine.

You might want to go for OCZ EB 3700

ehhh..... seems I hear much better things about Corsair. I have a 512 stick in my system right now and have never had a problem with it. I read people saying OCZ has or used to have bad business practices, I think I'll stick with Corsair unless someone can convince me otherwise :) .

Ok, my system is together so I can give you my feedback on the DiamondMax 10.

From the "39 minutes remaining" point of my XP install to completion, the install took 12 minutes (including entering my product code and other settings). Load times for all games have decreased noticeably. I can't quantify it for you, but it's certainly faster than the WD 1200JB w/ 8MB buffer I previously used. It doesn't seem to be quite as fast as a Raptor, but that's to be expected. The drive is very quiet except when seeking - seeking noise is average. Overall I think it's an excellent drive and a good step up from other 7200RPM drives with only a slightly higher $/GB ratio.

good man. OCZ used to pay off review "sites" (i.e. THG) for good reviews...yeah, they're shady bastards.

i'd get a full tower Lian-Li case. The Al is great for heat transfer and Full tower lets you have plenty of room to play w/ fans etc. (Also, if you plan on OCing your CPU or your Vid Card(esp. vid card) the full tower will come in handy as it'll give you enough room for extra cooling options...)

Im trying to go for a quiet system. Getting 3 panaflos, HD silencers, etc. and pretty much no OC'ing (at least for awhile). Trying to keep the size down a bit too. Thanks for the suggestions though.
