Suggestions Needed

Hey,

My mother has decided to purchase a computer. I told her that it was completely foolish to purchase a computer because prebuilds are far to expensive and you will get crap.

This computer needs to be 1000-1200$ Canadian which is equal to 987-1184$ USD.

This computer will be used by myself also.

I am an Intel kind of guy and usually prefer Nvidia. If you suggest ATI please give facts to why I should proceed and purchase ATI.

Do you have anything that you're going to reuse (i.e. keyboard, mouse, speakers, or monitor), or should they be included in the price?

is this just a tower or do you need monitor,keyboard,speakers,etc. and what are the computer's uses ie gaming,movies, etc. a good start would be to look at the general hardware sub-section as thats where usual build questions are
