I am a newbie when it comes to water cooling. I was wondering if somebody could give me some suggestions for a water cooling system for around $200-400 for my system.

My Setup
Pentium 4 2.4c @ 3.21ghz 1.55v
Abit IC7-G Motherboard
Geforce FX 5900 256mb
80 Western Digital SE 8MB cache
512mb Kingston PC-3200 3-3-3 (5:4 DRAM Ratio)

I don't think you should really invest up to 400$ on a watercooling system if you are a complete noob. Start out nice and easy with something like the Koolance Exos or similar external all-in-one's. The koolance cools somewhat well, and its easy to put together and maintain without a huge monetary investment.

Read up on watercooling and see what you think.

How is the performance on the koolance system? I haven't really heard great things about it as far as cooling performance. Thats what i'm really after.

If your looking for pure performance, then the koolance isnt for you.

How comfortable are you with computers in general? Watercooling from a more or less DIY kit takes a lot in terms of taking out and handling the motherboard and installing components etc...

Check out www.dangerden.com and www.dtekcustoms.com for components and kits for a watercooling system. How much DO you know about watercooling a computer in general? If you don't know what something is for, say a pump, radiator, etc.. and/or how a waterblock works, then maybe watercooling isnt for you. I'm not questioning you to be mean, Its just that people who say they are noobs and really havnt done any research before posting here always raise my eyebrows...

I wouldn't do that(buy a starting kit and then upgrade later??) that's gonna cost double and waste of more money for spending money to the starting kit... I am a complete noob to watercooling too but it's not that hard to understand the Idea of it so I bought me my stuff

RBX Intel Dangerden
Z-chip Dangerden
2 Heatercores and 2 shrouds
4 120mm Evercool Fans(2 sucking the heatercores
2 Intake fans for my DIY WC acrylic box)+ A TT 120mm Led fan an intake too
MCP 600 pump rev2
FrozenPCU Dual 3.5 Bayres
25 foot clear tubing(ridiculous huh... I got plans for it)
Some fittings and clamps from Ace hardware
And that's pretty much it
Other stuff for this project:
Acrilyc Sheets for the box
Dremel
Table saw
Jigsaw
a Fortron 300w PSU(just to power up the WC rig not the computer)
end

Not done yet with it but once I finished the box I'll probbably post pics here If I will ever learn how.

Cost : I might not be able to register for school the next 2 semester of college hahaha

So yeh I know your old enough(maybe older than me, 18) to understand that so go for it buy stuff from Dangerden Dtek and frozenCPU.

I am very comfortable with handling components (I built this current machine myself.) I do know how radiators, pumps, waterblocks, and etc. work. I don't mind paying a little more for a system that will perform better and will be of better quality. I don't want to skimp on the watercooling system and regret it later on.

Actually i'm 17 :D .

What i'm really looking for is a system that will cool my system better than most air cooling setups, be much quiter, and be of high quality. I have heard good things about Danger Den and i've heard good things about Swiftech.

Well if you are not going to OC and just want to make CPU cold an the comp quite I'd go with

RBX CPU waterblock
A heatercore
a pump(MCP 600 Eheim Danner)
A quiet 120 mm fan
and Other small stuff(tubing clamps etc.)
That's pretty much it I guess
That'll cost just 200+
