suggestions for video capture software

i have been looking around the web for the past few days for software that will let me take screen captures at regular intervals. i want to be able to basically convert a video file into a series of bmp/jpg images, so i can play the movie on my lcd in powerlcd. i have come across snatchit and avd video processor which look like the would be great, but im looking for something a little free-er (hehe) and that doesnt leave watermarks or big demo baners across the image.

any suggestions? thanks in advance!

i just installed snagit and i cant see where it would do what i need. it looks like a good prog though. anyone else know what program might do what i need?

yeah i saw that but that just records an avi of like your desktop or whatever
