the pin sized hole of a reset switch on my asus vento was bothering me so i decided to cut a bigger whole out so you can push it with your finger. I was also going to relocate the harddrive led from the right intake to somewhere else, but don't know where. I was looking for suggestions. I am looking for as flat as place as possible. I was thinking maybe mounting it near the newly resized reset switch when you flip up the "magic mask" of the case. What do you think?

he means use resistors on the line to lower the voltage to ~1.6 volts, and connect them both. the power LED will be on, and when there is drive activity, it will simply get brighter

Looking at some Pics on google I would think that a good place would be below the USB Ports, it would be angled down at about 45 deg and would kinda light up the area in front of your computer. I cant find many pics of the front with the drive bays open, looks like maybe the reset switch is just to the side of the floppy maybe, cant really tell on any of the pics i could find. It would be really hard to do if not impossible, but really cool if you could have just the ring of the Power button light for HD activity and the power symbol for power, but I have no idea if it is even possible to do that.

What I meant is, buy 2 resistors of calculated value (you need to find this as it does depends on the leds but I doubt it'll be much trouble) you cut one of power led wires, install resistor, you take hd led wires, cut hd led off, connect resistor to the (-) wire, and solder them to the power led.

Why not use a bi-color LED instead?
Green for power, red for HD activity. But since the green will be lit all the time, when it lights up red, it'll be red AND green, creating orange.
