Suggestions for a quiet case?

'lo everyone.

I need a suggestion...

I'm looking for a case to be as absolutely quiet as possible, but still have/give incredible cooling capacity.

My current case is some old ass Antec case that currently has 4 80mm fans, AMD 4000+ CPU fan that likes to sit around 5200 RPM's (loud) and the dual fans on my video cards (6800GT's).. as well as the 80mm PS fan.

Heat is a serious issue for me as I live in way south Texas, and this room rarely ever makes it below 85*F in the summer, with a mobo temp never less than 38-40*C. All that heat obviously requires the above fans.

I've got 5 HDD's and 2 DVD-R's in this box.. I'll need to have at least that capacity in the next one.

Sooo...

Whats the top 3 best silent cases out there?

I'm not into lights and case windows.. just need quiet!

Thanks..

P180 looks awesome.. and it's even on sale at the egg.

Is the coolmaster as quiet as the Antec cases?

The quieter the better in my case.

My friends wavemaster is so quiet sometimes I dont even know its on. Plus although the p180 is a great case, I think it looks cheap

the wavemaster cant be as quiet as the P180 bc it uses 80mm fans and also doesnt hav as good airflow as the P180

The P180 is definitly not cheaply made.(I think it looks classy) I have mine sitting less than 2 feet from me, and all i hear is the PSU. If I had a quiet, or adjustable one, I'm sure it would be much quieter.(I have a TT butterfly) Highly recommended.

Only 'problem' I have (again) is heat... adjustability is a complete waste for me as I would have all of the fans running at 100% all the time anyways.

I think P180 is the way I'll go, unless anyone can throw up any last minute thoughts & opinions.

i dont think any other case can beat the P180 with its combined ability to cool with very little noise :p the only thing i hav against this case is the front door which is very flimsy but other than that, its a great big sturdy case

his system would be too cramped in a P150

Ah, you are correct. I posted in haste.

In that case I'd say a P180 as well. Can't go wrong with 4 120mm fans.

Or maybe the Cooler Master Stacker. 120's too I believe, and plenty of room for expansion.

Get the P180.
Also get an extra Antec TriCool fan and install it in the fan mount in
the upper chamber in front of the HDD cage.
Set it to draw air into the case and at Medium.
Set the other 3 supplied fans to LOW.
Don't use the VGA duct and cover the remaining holed surface with
duct tape to keep the hot air vented to the outside back of the
case from being recycled back in.
Toggle that extra front fan between MEDIUM/LOW to see if your
system stays cool enough with the quieter LOW setting.
One other thing to consider.
The new Enermax Liberty PSUs come with a 120mm smart fan.
The fan spins up faster as the heat in the PSU rises.
That quiet 120x38mm fan (LOW) in the HDD/fan/PSU wind tunnel
should keep the PSU cool enough to render the PSU fan hardly running
and very quiet.

Happy trailz,

Currently have a stacker, used a p180 before and tho it was a "pain" to work with....OH SO QUIET. Especially the nice hdd mounts with silicon love bugs. All I can hear in my stacker's calcck,c lcahldk,chlkcjlc,cckfhsidk,,gg...

Anyone got any ideas on quieting the hdd's without modding?

Try the rubber band trick? You essentially suspend your hard drives using rubber bands which silences most of all the vibrations.

I also mounted my PSU with rubber washers between it and the case, and used foam tape everywhere else that it could touch the case. Now all I hear is my CPU fan. Any recommendations for a super quiet 478 fan (Zalman CNPS-7700 will not fit my case)?

no rubberbands, last you want is for them to dry out and....*crashing sounds*

shoelace...etc anything that won't dry out

What about the CNPS-7000 or the xp90/si120 with a quiet fan.

Thanks! I'll check them out. CNPS-7700 bumps my PSU but the ones you suggested might fit.

i'm using an AC Freezer-4-something. it's fairly quiet, and i'm considering experimenting with just it as my exhaust. (w ducting)

If you get the P180 check out the Scythe Ninja, with the airflow in that case you can run the thing passive..
