Suggestions for a case

I'm looking for a case with no PSU in the $100 or less range. I was looking at stuff like Lian Li, Kingwin, and others like that. I like the nice simple designs, not a lot of lights and stuff. A window on the side is fine, but not necessary.

What are your suggestions for cases in this price range that have nice air cooling? I'd like to mount a few 80mm fans in it, but I may pick up some nicer ones, or some 120mm's if needed. Just looking for a case with nice cooling, will fit a few hard drives and will be adequate for trying to hide all the cables so it looks nice and gets better airflow.
Thanks!

go to newegg.com

look at cases selection

use their advanced search and type in your specs like price ranges, etc

look at pretty pics

pick the ones you like best

look for reviews on them

pick out the ones that are great for performance/cooling/whatever else

buy

go to newegg.com (done that)

look at cases selection (done that)

use their advanced search and type in your specs like price ranges, etc (done that)

look at pretty pics (done that)

pick the ones you like best (done some of that too)

look for reviews on them (done that but that's what I was hoping to get from you guys too!)

pick out the ones that are great for performance/cooling/whatever else

buy

There are a ton of cases there and some of them all have great reviews, even the cheaper ones. I was just hoping for a few, off the top of your head suggestions of ones that you know would work well. You know, from some of the experts on this board. Lots of those reviews are by average schmoes that wouldn't know a good cooling well bit case if it was dropped on their head. I'm sure you know what I mean.

But I'll continue to browse the Egg and see what's there. Thanks.

why not post the links to the cases you chose and we can tell you which ones good

because asking us to pick you a case out of all the cases in this world is kinda too general

Not a bad idea. I'll go through an find a few and see what you guys think and see if you can suggest any others like it or give me the ok on one of those.

thats a good case, some might not like it as so many people have it. I personally have the chieftech aluminum one where i did some light modding to it so im good with mine :D

Here are some I found, mainly Lian-Li's. Just a few things I like about these or would like in a case. I like the ability to hide cables. I like simple, not a ton of lights and stuff. I like a bunch of spots for fans. IE, 1 or 2 in front for intake, 1 or 2 in back for exhaust, and maybe 1 out the top for exhaust. Plus I prefer the mid-towers and not the full towers.

So which one (or something else not on this list) will be best for a nice air cooled case?

Lian-Li PC-6077

Lian-Li PC-78B

Lian-Li PC-7 (like the ability to hide cables a bit more in this one.)

Here is the best in the world!!!!!: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=11-164-040&DEPA=1 It's got headlights!!!!!

Or, if you're a gammer, here's the hottest gamming case of the year: http://www.ocsystem.com/rasa908migac.html Get yer gamm on!!!

And on a serious note, for $100 I doubt you'll find a better case than this one: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=11-129-141&DEPA=0

Good luck. :)

I do like that last one. I've heard good things. I think that first one is way too cool for me though. I don't deserve a case with headlights!

Ok Mr. Newton (I prefer to call you that than wayne) What do you think of these? Which would suit me best or would suit anyone best? Is there something better than these that you can think of, in terms of cooling, space and durability?

IMHO, when i choose cases to buy, i basically only look out for nice looking ones that are moddable because i see cases from a modding perspective... however, i would go with the PC-61 because of the dark slick black color and also the way the inside structure is designed with the hdd cage and the top panel (no idea what it is) but i guess you could stuff wires and stuff up there...

typically, i just buy a nice case with a good looking front panel because i usually mod the rest... i dont know if you mod but if you dont, id go with nice looking cases

to be honest, the way a case is designed for cooling isnt really important to me because i cut my own blowholes and i alter the case for the sake of cooling and i can pretty much control the airflow by different ways of placing the fans whether it be sucking or blowing... because of this, i am not willing to pay high dollars for cases specifically designed for good airflow because ATX are generally the same.. the biggest issue is probably HOW you cool it

yea, i dont think i really made much sense... but there you go.. thats my opinion

Actually your post makes plenty of sense. I don't really do any modding right now, but I might eventually. I do like the pc-61 because of that panel to hide the cables. Plus it has spots for fans in front and 1 in the back. Looks like you could mount a 2nd one under that one too.

I appreciate the input. Thanks!

glad you liked my post

you can also mount a fan in the cd bay covers... i did it as one of my mods where i took two cd bay covers and held them together and cut a blowhole in it... now my case has a fan in the front

You can get the Kingwin Aluinum case in black or sliver with Window for about $105 shipped at excaliburpc.com

That would be my best bet...

Yeah, I was looking at some of those on NewEgg. Nice cases. But I might be leaning towards a Lian-Li for a little more. Not positive yet. I have a little while to decide. I don't have the money in hand for one yet. That'll hopefully be in a week or so.

Ohhhh.... They don't have the Green Ranger gamming case... :(
What good are the other Power Ranger gamming cases when they don't have the Green Ranger gamming case!? :p

edit:
Damn, they don't have the other Ranger colors either! Only the silver-gray ones even though it's after 7/1/2004 I can't 'plasse' choose my color. :( It's too bad too. I hear that 0.8mm Japenness SECC material is the breast!

Another vote for the $102 Antec - it has lots of features and looks solid. I love Antecs.
