Suggestion on this Pre-Built?

I'm not able to see the price so it's hard to say, however I like the build. Has he had any experience with water cooling? Water cooling has some danger and maintenance to it. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but people should be aware. The only questionable decision that I see immediately is the raid 0 nvme setup rather than just one big nvme ssd.

Oh they have it for $2900

2 1080ti's and a 7900. It isn't bad. But even with $290 off, you would still probably pay a sizable amount for tax...so I don't know if the other parts are worth it.

If the pictures are accurate for 2900 dollars it's worth it. It's way over 3400 to build the same thing by hand, I didn't include every part, time, energy, etc. If he has the income and understands the risks as well as the negative parts of sli, it's going to be cheaper to buy that than build it. A negative aspect is the 1080ti's instead of an rtx 2080ti. It doesn't count fittings or anything. This is my not very accurate list (at all) BUT ACCURATE enough.

Let me put it this way. If I was looking for a pc and was around this location (and had the money). I would purchased it.

What's the application? Because if it's for a gaming system I'd say it might be a poor choice. It may be OK for decent 4k performance for less $, but you may end up CPU limited (older gen + slower clock CPU) and the extra cores/threads don't get you much of anything. All depends on the games being run.

For displays smaller than 4k (e.g., 1440p), a nice i7-9700k + RTX-2080 (or GTX-1080ti) system can be put together for ~$2000.

If he needs a proper workstation with a fair number of cores/threads and support for lots of RAM and PCIe, then it might be worth it.

Cambridge store hasn't it listed at $5999.99 with it marked down to $4999.99, definitely worth the discounted price if they'll really sell it for $2610.

Edit: looks like it must be the open box one at Westbury listed at $2999.96, still worth it at $2700 as long as it looks good in person.

I mean, it's a nice system, but I'd probably look into building a 9900k + single 2080Ti system for that price. IIRC microcenter will build you a PC for you, just pick the parts. Probably be somewhere in the same price range as that thing.

So I am going to head over to Microcenter with him today since we are hoping they might be able to knock it down to $2500. If they can do that I think it might be a good deal.

Yeah seems like they can do 2,500. Just wondering if 2x GTX 1080ti's are better then one RTX 2080. Thoughts?

If the game supports it its a lot better. But if it doesn't they are about on par. the 2080 series cards also have a better nvenc encoder chip, produces higher quality video capture for gaming and streaming.

He decided to pass and went with the X603. It’s a nice price and machine but it was their display model so who knows the condition of the machine.

For a regular person who just flips the switch and goes (and may need warranty service down the road), it seems like a good deal.

From what I've heard though, in Jan / CES AMD is supposed to be announcing some new things so unless I needed it like right now, I personally would have waited the extra few weeks just to see what may be coming down the road.

So for me personally, when the money gets that high, I'd go for a self built PC - especially since like most on here, I'd service it myself.
