Hello,
I've seen it on other forums that use vBulletin where they have the icon on the left hand side of your subscription list that indicates (if you mouse over it) how many posts you haven't read be a link to the first unread post in a thread. I know there is the little down arrow, but that is a little harder to tap on a touchscreen due to its proximity to the thread link.
