I'm about to buy a display to use at work. I will mainly use it for writing /reading documents and programming. I want a picture that is as "kind" as possible to my eyes. Maximum price is about $500.
Non glossy. I bring my laptop to work and it has the glossy screen and with all the lights on at the office the glare is terrible. At home with with not as much light it isn't a problem.
500 is a weird amount of money for an office display. I like HP's 20" but the font is a bit small for older eyes in 1600 * 1200. I would step up to a 24" for a bit more money.
Programming = real estate hogger from my own experience. You should either go to a very big panel like 22-24 inch or get multi displays with 2x19-20 inch.
