• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Suggestion for hardforum

Everyone has their preference to how a forum should look, act and feel, but I have to agree with Talon Blackrazor on this one. Those sites give me a headache and I leave as soon as I start seeing those balloons. This site has had this look for over five years and is pretty much meat and potatoes which is the way the majority of the members prefer it......but thanks for the suggestion. :)

What's the big deal? It's just an alternate text tooltip. If you don't want to see them don't leave your cursor over the thread link.

qft.

It also adds to processing time, and generates noticibly larger pages each time you load forumdisplay.php

I just noticed that looking at that forum in IE gave me large multiline tooltips. THAT is lame. I don't know if I should blame IE or the forum admin.

most suggetions are shot down which is why I think they named it Forum help and feedback versus Forum Help and Suggestions.

I like the option too. Shouldn't it would save bandwidth if, after viewing the bubble, decide it's not worth my reading/input?

Also, can this be made into an option under User CP?

I just thought it would be nice when you see a title like "check this" or "question for guru"
or "need opinion" or even "suggestion for hardforum". I just don't like having to click those links to see what the post is about cuz half the time it's not something I'm interested in. Not having to load each full thread should make up for the bandwidth you lose by getting a little text box.

As far as multiline text boxes - sure, you get to more than the first half sentence.
Don't like text box popping up - don't rest cursor on the link.

Doesn't look like the idea is getting much support though. I like the idea above about being able to set it in your control panel. That way everyone could be happy :)

That is not a stock option in vBulletin, it would require some custom programming.

That would be the big idea killer. :(

oh god i would hate that, it might have made sence back in the day when everyone used dial up, but now there is no reason for it, it takes less than a second to load a thread on the hard forums and it takes about a second for that stupid box to pop up, so just click the damn link and look at the thread :)

IIRC we had the "bubbles" for a week or 2 when we upgraded to VB3.

After much complaining it got shut off. Actually I believe I remember Kyle saying he hated it and he was going to shut it off anyway, but still, most people bitched.
