Sometimes when I'm trying to sell something on the FS forum, I don't always have an exact idea of how much I should sell my item for, or how much its normally going for, or how much I have to sell it for - for it to be gone fast.

Is there any way that we can add to the FS rules that posters have to keep the price of their sold item on their thread even after it is sold? This will give people more of an idea of how much to ask for their product.

I took a break from selling and buying PC hardware for about 6 months. When I came back, I had no idea that the $95 I was asking for a mobo was now going for about $55 to $60. If this could be added to the rules, and maybe enforced over time, that would great!

In addition, I was thinking of starting up a wikipedia-style site where we can track the prices of used parts and how much they are currently worth. So for example, if I wanted to buy a 7900gt, I could go on the website, type in 7900gt, and it would tell me that it was worth 250 a year ago, 200 six months ago, 180 three months ago, and 150 today. I think this would be a cool project to start up. If anybody would want to join in, please let me know. My expertise on the programming side is limited, but I know how to manage data and run analytics (its my job hehe).

Thanks

How do you suggest we would enforce this, and where would the man-power to actually go and look at done threads come from?

Well it wouldn't have to be STRICTLY enforced... AFAIK, a lot of excessive bumping and even some threadcrapping isn't exactly enforced (obviously not the moderators fault, and in no way am I trying to blame anyone). All I'm saying is that we can have a suggestion, or some kind of "Hey FYI, if you sell something, leave the price and date you sold it for on your thread" type of bulletin so people can know it at least exists.

One additional thing I was thinking of is this... Would it be possible (under our current forum programming and servers and whatnot) to have it so that _posting_ on the FS forum would only be enabled after having posted at least, idk, 50ish posts on the regular forum. I know we don't have many scammers around here, but its still very useful. I know Xtremesystems does it, and its proven to be a very good thing so far.

Obviously, these suggestions are just preliminary, and I would accept a simple "not it cannot be done" or "we've thought about it and it just won't work". I'm just putting some ideas out there...
