I'm tinkering with adding a window on my sister's case, it's just a $30 dollar comp USA case. I already made the cut, and while it's pretty straight, I've not been able to get it 100% smooth (that is, I'm not quite willing to press my finger on the bare metal and slide it along without the fear of getting a cut).

I thought of an alternative, and I'm wondering if there's anything anyone's ever seen that could be pressed/glued onto the edge of the metal. Something like a black plastic or rubber that is flexible and could just be run around the edge of the window to create a plastic/rubber trim around the window. I'm doing a high gloss paint job on the case (primer/sand/primer/sand/color/sand/color/sand/clear-coat/sand/clear-coat/sand/rubbing compound and buffing kinda paint job :p ) and frankly, I just admit I'm tired of trying to make that opening I cut for the window 100% perfect so it doesn't look rough on the final paint job, so I'm looking to just hide it with a thin rubber/plastic trim. Something similar to the weather stripping around the trunk lid of a car, except obviously way thinner so it isn't all bulgy and all :p

Any suggestions?
 
Haha, nevermind. Found THIS right after making this post. Can follow the link's path backward one step to find other sizes/colors of trim molding.
 
You can also get something similar in a chrome finish at automotive stores.

The other option is a window molding with a locking strip. Find one that has a 1.6mm groove for the case side, and a 3.2mm groove on the window side.
Have a look here to see what I mean. You can probably find it a lot cheaper locally. Aluminium windows use it, so a lot of hardware stores should carry it. The beauty of that stuff is that the window is more or less flush with the case side.
 
Yeah, i found that same stuff also.

Only thing there is, I've already cut the plexi about 1.5 inches larger than the hole in the case side, with plans to bolt the window in place with cap nuts on the outside. I don't feel like cutting plexiglass again, it's nerve racking enough doing it once :p
