So I'm considering a TV as a monitor *gasp* I know. I've read things have come a long way. I've been considering the 39 LG LN5300 or the 47" Sony W802a due to the impulse.

Obviously they are very different in price.. 365 vs 1099..

My use will be for a couple months on my desktop in my office as a pc monitor (my 24" VG 144hz panel is just so small :/ .. I got used to a zr30w when I worked for my last employer at home). Then eventually it will transition to a bedroom TV.

I'm pretty sensitive to input lag and ghosting kinda drives me up a wall.. But that price difference is a LOT.. I'm kind of debating hard on the LG because it's very well liked and it will be much easier to be ok with.

I'm kind of doing this as a hold over until 4k sets/monitors become reasonable (1k ish?). It makes me wonder because the Seikei is 699....

Any suggestions?
 
I find it likely those are going to be overwhelmingly large for desktop use in an office unless you have a very large office and are sitting quite a ways back. Tough it out with the smaller monitor? The TVs aren't going to gain you any extra pixels, just larger ones. I suspect that you miss the extra pixels more than the screen real estate although you may not realize that at first as losing real estate is also a crappy thing to deal with.
