Suggested upgrade?

Got a Q for all you experts out there.

I am not a gamer, mostly internet and office type stuff. Upgrading board and proc to an LGA board....what I'm wondering is if PCI-Express is worth the trip.

If so, what core is going to last for my modest needs for a year or two.

Currently running a Sapphire 9600 Atlantis.....I seem to recall it was a Pro chipset.

Could be wrong, but I don't really remember.

After all this waffling, my question is simple.

Considering my needs, Do I need an upgrade?

Replies to this thread or PM's appreciated.

Thanks again

PCI-E is worth it, even if your not a gamer, there are also PCI-Ex1 slots, for other things (ethernet, sound etc..) which is good.

A good choice would be a 6600GT PCI-E card. Or if you dont want to spend much, You can get a 6200 and mod it to a 6600GT

No, it isn't necessary right now.

you could get an LGA board with AGP and save a little money by just putting the 9600 in there.

But, in a few years, PCI-e will be standard, and AGP will be quickly going away.

So, what I'm saying is, you either go PCI-e now, or later. :D

Personally, I would stay with AGP for now, and put the money saved towards a nicer CPU or RAM. ;)

Oh, well ya, I thought he was getting a brand new system. Get a socket 775 Mobo+CPU, with AGP, and keep your card.
