Ave,
I'm going to be building a new Rig for myself, with the primary goal of Overclocking!! My main use for my PC is Video Editing, Encoding, DVD Authoring, Burning, 3D Digital Animation, Rendering & Sound Editing. I dont' use my PC for Gaming, except occasionally playing Command & Conquer games.
Keeping these tasks in mind, i was suggested using Intel CPU, and DDR2 667/533 RAM. I don't have an exhorbitant budget. I can spend approximately this:
CPU : $200
Mobo : $100
RAM : $100
I plan on getting the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, Arctic Ceramique Thermal Compound for cooling. I'll probably get the X1300 Radeon Card.
For Motherboard, i would prefer ASUS... but i'm open to suggestion. For CPU, i'd prefer to get a Pentium D (830, 840, 930) or i can go with P4 (632, 640) if that's recommended.
I was looking at SLI/Crossfire boards because i wanted to do the Dual Video card thing... but almost anyone i've spoken to have adviced me that i should stay away from SLI/Crossfire if i want to Overclock... and stay away from Dual Cards i don't plan on Gaming too much.
Would really appreciate suggestions.
Thanks.
