Hello Everyone,

I want to buy a 24" monitor for my workplace. I will do general office work and coding. It is not for gaming or photo/video editing.

90% time will be used work purpose and 10% to view videos.

However since I spend over 10 hours every day in front of it I would want a good one.

So far I have come up with 2 options i.e. Dell Ultrasharp U2415 ($320) or LG 24MP88HM ($230).

The advantage with LG is the monitor looks good (no bezel) and is cheaper however Dell may have better display. LG 1920x1080 and Dell 1920x1200. (Please note the $ prices may not match your region as I live outside the US)

What should I do ?

Advice will be appreciated.

Cheers,
GR

You could get a 1440p monitor for that price. VX24AH, It's a 24" 1440p monitor. 1440 @ 24" is really sharp. You won't go back to 1080p again.

My system has no display port and my HDMI port will support only up to 1080p. 2K and above monitors are not cheap.

By the way in a 2K or higher monitor if I play 1080p movie then will the movie cover whole screen or there will be space left on sides/top.

Most movie players will upscale the movie to fill the entire screen.
