Suddenly no boot, worked before.

I shut down my computer for the night and went to bed, this morning when i started it again it didnt boot :(

There is no post beep
The drives spin up
There is a green light on the mobo which IS lighting
Fan on vidcard is spinning

How could this have happened
Partially dead mobo maybe
i tried resetting cmos

Asus A7N8X deluxe rev 1.06
barton 2500 stock
9800pro
1gig ram in single channel
2 seagates on acard controller card

right now im pulling everything out, one piece at a time and try rebooting after each part, but still no postbeep :(
 
You may have gotten a surge overnight.

I'd take out the video card and try it in a seperate computer, then try the RAM, etc

What you mean by that ? It was shut off.

Anyway, got it working, took everything out and put it back in again, reseating everything, now it works :confused:

Funny, atleast it should have given some error beeps, but it was just dead except for drives and fans spinning :rolleyes:
 
Did you have an OC on that processor? Sometimes, I know I've experienced it ONCE, the BIOS will forget the settings and fubar something in BIOS to make it lock up. In my case, I set the DDR ratio to 5/4 in order to run at 250FSB (I know, it's Intel), but the BIOS must have forgot it and set it back to 1/1 for whatever reason. :rolleyes:

Mind you this only happened ONCE. I've had the board for about a year and half now, so it happens.

The computer doesn't have to be on for it to be hit by a surge.
 
Well, as long as you reseated the parts and it worked, it's all good.

But the only 100% safe way to prevent something from getting hit by a surge is to unplug it from the power.
